What is epoxy grout caulking agent?
A high-performance caulking material composed of epoxy resin, curing agent, and inorganic colored sand.
It is widely used for decorating and sealing joints in ceramic tiles, stone, mosaics, and other flooring materials.
Compared to traditional one-component caulking adhesives, epoxy grout offer:
- Higher strength and adhesion
- Excellent waterproof and mildew-resistant properties
- A wide range of color and texture options
- Withstands high temperatures and cleaning chemicals
Currently, more and more caulking agent and flooring material manufacturers are choosing epoxy system formulations for their product development.

Typical composition of epoxy grout system
| Ingredient | Function | Common Raw Material Examples |
| Epoxy Resin (Main Agent) | Provides adhesion, hardness and chemical resistance | Bisphenol A epoxy resin, modified epoxy resin |
| Curing Agent (Curing System) | Controls curing speed and construction performance | Fatty amine, modified amine, polyamide curing agent |
| Colored Sand / Filler | Increases texture and compressive strength, controls fluidity | Quartz sand, colored sand |
| Additive | Prevents sedimentation, yellowing, and improves wetting and dispersion | Silicone surfactant, defoamer, etc. |
How to prepare epoxy colored sand system for caulking agent?
Different customers have different construction processes and target markets, so the formulation may vary slightly.
The following general guidelines are for reference only (for raw material selection purposes only):
1️⃣ Select the appropriate epoxy resin base.
A medium-viscosity (6,000-12,000 cps) bisphenol A epoxy resin is recommended.
If flexibility is desired, a small amount of modified epoxy resin (such as epoxy ester or aliphatic epoxy) can be added.
For applications sensitive to yellowing, a yellowing-resistant epoxy system can be selected.
2️⃣ Match the curing agent system.
A low-temperature or medium-temperature curing fatty amine system is recommended.
Control the pot life (pot life) between 30 and 60 minutes.
3️⃣ Control the ratio and particle size of the colored sand.
Typically, the ratio of epoxy base to curing agent to colored sand is 1:5-8.
The recommended particle size of the colored sand is 0.1-0.5mm, and can be adjusted based on visual and tactile properties.
4️⃣ Adjusting leveling and tactile feel
Adding a small amount of silicone oil or polyether-modified silicone additives can improve smooth application.
Using surfactants to control sand particle distribution uniformity
